How will my telehealth appointment work with MenoPositive Solutions?

You’ll use our HIPPA-secure platform to book your virtual visit and share your symptoms/complaints and medical history with us. We’ll then meet virtually via a secure video and audio telehealth session. We’ll order any necessary tests, such as bloodwork or imaging, and you can visit a convenient local facility that accepts your insurance to complete. Any recommended prescriptions will be sent to your pharmacy of choice. Follow up appointments are necessary to ensure that you are doing well on the recommended treatment. We will discuss the timing of follow up at your consultation and secure communication can occur through our HIPPA-compliant patient portal.

How do I know if I’m in menopause?

Natural menopause occurs when 12 months have passed without a woman having a period. However, in the case of surgery, IUD placement, or other changes, lab work and symptoms are used to diagnose.

What is perimenopause?

This means “around the menopausal time” when things begin to change for a woman. Patients may notice changes in their periods, including missed periods, heavier periods, lighter periods, breakthrough bleeding, etc. This is a highly symptomatic time due to hormone fluctuations. The amount of time spent in perimenopause varies for each woman. Even though your cycles are changing, you can still get pregnant. The possibility of a multiple pregnancy is highest now.

Does cancer treatment cause menopause?
It depends; age at diagnosis, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgery and medical treatments may factor in. Some younger women may lose their cycle during chemotherapy, only to have it return later. For some women with hormone positive breast cancer (estrogen +), treatments include hormone suppression with medications, which can cause early menopause or medically induced menopause.

Is medically induced menopause different from natural menopause?
Yes-medically induced menopause occurs after either surgical removal of ovaries or because of decreased ovarian function from chemotherapy, pelvic radiation, or other forms of ovarian toxicity. Removal of (BOTH) ovaries by hysterectomy would also be a form of medically induced menopause. If one ovary is left, this is not considered surgically induced.

Are there treatments for menopause symptoms?

Yes! But the answer depends on you, your risk factors, and our discussion. Every woman needs to be evaluated uniquely based on their circumstances. Hormone replacement therapy is not for every woman. Supplements, acupuncture, lifestyle changes, non-hormonal medications, non-hormonal vaginal therapies as well as other options exist as well. We will discuss what works best for you!

How is primary care and menopause related?

The menopausal transition brings significant changes that require close attention. Along with common symptoms, increased risks such as cardiovascular disease, bone loss, recurrent urinary tract infections, elevated blood pressure, high cholesterol, and more become critical areas to monitor for optimal health.

HRT vs MHT- What’s the difference?
MHT is menopausal hormone therapy.
HRT is hormone replacement therapy.

You should always go to a provider who knows the difference!

MHT uses LOWER doses of estrogen +/- progesterone to manage menopausal symptoms. This is for women who have transitioned into menopause.

HRT is designed to REPLACE estrogen. It is a higher dose and for those who are younger to bring levels to the pre-menopausal state until natural menopause occurs.

Do you have an office?

Currently, no. Although, we are hopeful for this in the future. All visits are virtual, and we require that patients have access to a gynecologist for routine exams.

What states can you see patients in?
